Holiday Season Travel Hacks

OMG, the holidays are right around the corner! Time to head home and visit the family full of your own Cousin Eddie’s and Aunt Edna’s. We’ve got some holiday season travel hacks to help you get there without breaking the bank.

It’s that joyous time of the year to do the annual mad dash to find the best deal without blowing your entire travel budget for 2018.

That most wonderful time of year that we brave overcrowded flights and eating $20 sandwiches at the airport in order to head home for dried out turkey, your mom telling you that you’re spending too much time on Snapchat, and dad falling asleep and farting by the warm glow of the fireplace. (I know!)

On This Podcast Episode:

We’re bringing you some of our favorite Holiday Season Travel Hacks, so you can at least save some cash when flying home for that Thanksgiving Day carb-overloaded feast, 8 crazy nights of Hanukkah or a family Christmas vacation with the Griswold’s.

My co-host for the podcast is my husband, Jeff Game, a travel, and music journalist that’s always on the hunt for a good story to tell.

Up a Treehouse with Chef Laurel Waters

This week on Lifestyle Thursday we have uncovered a real hidden gem of a restaurant in a small town in Texas and the story of its owner that’s equally as impressive.

If you drive up Highway 187 in the small town of Utopia, Texas, you may think that you’ve crossed over into the French Countryside, passing fields of poppy’s that line the winding pebbled driveway up to the European inspired manor that houses the amazing Laurel Tree Restaurant.

Oh, and there is a treehouse dining room that seats six in the backyard. And, they’re only open on Saturdays, leading to the restaurant being booked months in advance.

On This Podcast Episode:

All of this wonderment was dreamt up and is run by Paris-trained chef Laurel Waters. We chat with her about how she’s created a must-visit destination in a super small town, along with how she showcases her serious culinary chops in the heart of Texas Hill River Country.

It’s a story about following your dreams and being committed to your vision – daring to be uniquely you.

Octoberfesting Around the World

A few listeners sent us some Octoberfest questions, so we decided to do an Octoberfest themed episode. Since we recently featured Munich on a Travel Tuesday episode, we thought we’d tie these two together.

Usually, Octoberfest can last from the beginning of September through the first weekend of October, where you drink a lot of beer, maybe do some German folk-dancing in lederhosen, watch some wiener dog races and eat a lot of meat in tube form.

On This Podcast Episode:

Here are some cool fun-facts and highlights from some of the bigger Octoberfest’s around the country, as well as the lowdown on Munich itself.
